Terms of use

Last updated 2026-06-11

These terms apply when you use GaijinOS. They are written to be read, not skimmed: the short version is that GaijinOS organizes official information into action plans, it does not give legal advice, and you stay in control of your account and data.

What the service is

  • GaijinOS provides informational action plans, checklists, and reminders based on available official sources.
  • It is not a law firm, immigration scrivener (gyoseishoshi), government office, or legal representative, and it does not provide legal advice.
  • Plans describe procedures that appear to apply to your situation. Outcomes such as visa approvals depend on official review and are never guaranteed.
  • Before acting on anything important, confirm the current requirements with the relevant office, such as the Immigration Services Agency or your city office.

Accuracy and your responsibility

  • We link to official sources and check them regularly for changes, but rules, fees, and forms can change before we catch up.
  • Estimates the app produces (for example visa windows, HSP points, or pension figures) are indicative only and may not match an official calculation.
  • The service is provided as is, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • To the extent permitted by law, GaijinOS is not liable for losses that result from relying on the information in the app, including missed deadlines or rejected applications.

Acceptable use

  • Use the service only for your own residency planning or to help someone who has asked you to.
  • Do not enter other people's personal information without their permission, or any of the identifiers the app blocks, such as My Number.
  • Do not attempt to probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or to access accounts or data that are not yours.
  • Do not resell access to the service or scrape its content for a competing product.

Accounts and the beta

  • GaijinOS is currently in a limited beta. Access is granted by approval and may be waitlisted.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may change or discontinue beta features as the product develops.
  • If we make a material change to these terms, we will update the date above.

Privacy

How we collect and handle your data is covered separately on the Privacy & data page, including what we never collect and how to delete everything.
